OtakuFeed found out that Crunchyroll has revealed that the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, or Berlinale, will be airing the international premiere of Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari) anime film throughout February 16 and February 26. The film will air in the festival’s Competition selection and will be the foremost anime feature film in the competition since Spirited Away in 2002.

In addition, SixTONES idol group member Hokuto Matsumura (live-action Liar × Liar film’s Tōru, live-action xxxHOLiC film’s Shizuka Doumeki) made his voice acting start in the film as Sōta Munakata, a young man who ventures on a pilgrimage with Suzume as the “Door-Closing Master.”

Shinkai (your name., Weathering With You) orchestrated the film and composed the screenplay. He is also credited with the original story. Masayoshi Tanaka (your name., Weathering With You) created the characters. The animation manager was Kenichi Tsuchiya (your name., Garden of Words).
