Komi Can’t Communicate
OtakuFeed found from Comic Natalie that NHK has announced today that Tomohito Oda’s Komi Can’t Communicate (Komi-san wa Comyushō desu.) manga has sparked a brand new live-action series that will air on September 6 at 10:45 p.m. JST on NHK General’s “Yorudora” late-night drama block. The show will consist of eight episodes.
Elaiza Ikeda will play as Shōko Komi, and NEWS’ Takahisa Masuda will play as Hitohito Tadano.
Toshikazu Higuchi and Asako Takagi are the executive producers. Yoshihito Okashita and Eiji Ishii are supervising the series. Fumie Mizuhashi is creating the script. Hiroyuki Ōnuma is creating the drama. Tо̄ichirо̄ Rutо̄ is the coordinating producer. Eishi Segawa is making the music. The manga is also urging an anime adaptation that will be airing this October on TV Tokyo. Viz Media is publishing the manga in English.
Timid Tadano is very shy, and he doesn’t mind it. But everything changes when he sees himself isolated in a classroom on the first day of high school with the dubious Komi. He soon realizes she’s super awkward. So now he’s made it his purpose to aid her on her quest to obtain 100 friends!
Oda published the manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday in May 2016, after first issuing a one-shot version of the manga in September 2015. Shogakukan issued the manga’s 21st edited book volume on May 18 and will issue the 22nd volume on August 18. Viz Media issued the manga’s 13th volume on June 8.
